Acudetox Therapy

Client Populations: Family, Children, Teens, Adult

The Acudetox protocol is a 5-point auricular acupuncture treatment (NADA or 5 Needle Protocol (5NP)). In this treatment, five (5) superfine single-use, disposable, sterile needles are inserted into the external portion of the aurical (ear). These five (5) ear acupuncture points are sympathetic, shen min, kidney, liver, and lung. The NADA protocol has been shown to effectively support a person along their recovery journey by working with the mind, body, and spirit to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms. This treatment has been shown to be especially effective when used in conjunction with other rehabilitative structures, including inpatient and outpatient treatment programs, and group therapy.

A hallmark of the NADA treatment is that it adds nothing (indeed, nada, in Spanish, means “nothing”!). This allows the person receiving NADA to feel that they are, of themselves, capable of overcoming addiction. Other benefits that persons receiving NADA have experienced are: reduced anxiety, increased ability to manage stress, and better sleep.

NADA Acudetox Acupuncture Treatment Description:
NADA 5-point auricular acupuncture uses five (5) superfine single-use, disposable, sterile needles, ear seeds, or magnetic beads within the context of addictions and behavioral health treatment and prevention programs to alleviate suffering and support recovery. Recipients sit quietly in a group setting for 30-45 minutes.
